Hurray, my first chimney for SALA is finished. My apologies to my ancestors who built the Pearce building and the many wonderful buildings, now sadly falling into ruin on Ketchowla Station.
This chimney is first and foremost an artwork- well that is my excuse, and for me speaks of the sweeping the women in dugouts had to do, the surrounding area... the isolation after leaving one island- Great Britain for another vastly different expansive island continent.
This is ephemeral installation is also trying to draw on memories they may have had regarding their last glances towards their home, the rugged coastal cliffs of Cornwall, and Wales, or England, hence also the many towers falling into ruin as well.
