I am sure I share with everyone the concerns and sadness faced by those with the terrible bushfires. One of the main reasons we left the hills was concerns after having gone through so many fires including the dreadful Ash Wednesday and living on the notorious Wistow fire run. It is concerning the amount of development that has been permitted since the lifting of the development moratorium - many homes are build where they are simply sitting on a fire stack waiting to burn.
My daughter in Dawsley has also faced many fires and yet you see roadside grass 5 ft high. We need to employ young roadside corps to manage roadside vegetation rather than just spray and kill indescriminantly as do councils at the moment.
It is hard to believe it was only last year in November we had snow here in Hallett- though it was very cold this year. Summer so far has been kinder to us that the city, where bitumen and intensive development increases ambient temperature.
I am hoping our horses, pets and farm stock are not suffering too dreadfully while access is still being secured.
