November and December are becoming more unpredictible each year... we have had buckets of rain which may have affected roads to Ulooloo and Wilkins' Cottage, and as council is still trying to clean up after a significant fire at Burra Gorge, roads may not have been checked.
Since moving from the Adelaide Hills we have had more rain here than at Mount Barker, and much better ground water. The impacts of development in key agricultural areas such as the Adelaide Hills will be felt for generations to come with falling aquifers and rising salinity due to packing in concrete boxes on some of our best soil, thus water runs off and not down into replenish aquifers.
So we escaped the insanity of the Hills to come back to my family heritage 15 years ago, and never regretted it. We grow our own veggies and fruits, and have a great community. One of the younger trees I am planting is pomegranates due to their considerable healing qualities- first crop this year- and they are beautiful. And real apricots hanging like grapes....
